7 Tips When Moving Into Your New Home

Hey everyone, it's Rachel Clark. Today I'm going to go over 7 helpful tips to help you move into your new home.Â
1. Switch Utilities To Your Name
Number one is making sure that the utilities are switched under your name. You want to make sure you do this the day of closing to ensure that you don't get charged a service fee to turn on or off the utilities.
2. Contact USPS and DMV
Be sure to contact USPS and the DMV to make sure that your address has changed so you're getting the mail to your new home. The last thing you would want is for your mail to be going to your old residence and you don't receive it.

3. Contact Bank & Credit Card Companies
Make sure that you contact your bank and/or credit card providers to change your address. The last thing you would want is somebody having information that is that private. You don't want that to happen.
4. Schedule Repairs & Improvements
Set up repairs or improvements before you move in. That being changing out light fixtures, painting, any cosmetic stuff. It's really great to get that done before you move all your furniture in so it's ready to go once you move in.Â
5. Get Home Professionally Cleaned
Schedule a professional house cleaning. After the repairs and improvements are done, it's really great to get someone in there who knows what they're doing to clean your house so you're walking in there, moving in there fresh and clean.
6. Hire a Moving Company
Schedule with a moving company so they can help you move. I don't know about you, but the worst part about moving is actually moving all of your stuff. Hire a company that can help you get all of your stuff out of your old place and into your new place so you're not having to worry about the stress of it.Â
7. Change All Door Locks
And lastly, number seven, which I think might be the most important is to schedule an appointment with a locksmith so that they can change all the locks on your new home. I think it's very important that you're starting clean and that you're the only person who has the key to your brand new home.
