Getting Your Home Prepared For An Open House

Hey there, it's Rachel Clark. So your home is listed and you're going to be having your very first open house. That's awesome! Open houses are a great way to generate buzz about your home and get bigger groups into your home. I'm going to give you a few helpful tips on what you should expect and how to prepare for that open house.
3-4 Days Pre-Open House
You can expect 3 to 4 days before your agent who has listed your property or who is holding the open house is going to promote it through social media or the newspaper. They're going to do that marketing so that we can start creating a buzz so that people know that they're going to be there Saturday or Sunday, or both days, and make sure that we get enough traffic in for that open house.Â

Day of Open House
On the day of open house, you're going to want to make sure that your home is clean, that it smells nice, that anything personal or clutter wise. We want to make sure it's put away and if you have any pets, we do want to make sure that they are not there for the open house.Â
1 Hour Pre-Open House
An hour before the open house, your agent should arrive and make sure that all the lights are turned on. They're going to go to all the major streets leading into your neighborhood or the most popular one, and put up 15 to 20 open house directional signs. This is going to help for people who are just driving by or people who are expecting your open house and help lead them there.Â
Open House!
You can expect your agent to be there at the open house anywhere between 3 to 4 hours or maybe longer if they're wanting to, but at the end you should expect feedback from your agent, good or bad, and hopefully at the end of the day you could potentially have an offer on your home.Â
