Are you thinking of moving to the Eastside of Tucson? To help you out I've put together a pros and cons list of living on the Eastside of Tucson.

Pro #1: Outdoor Activities

One of the huge pros of living on the east side of Tucson is the easy access to all of the amazing outdoor activities. Some of those include hiking Tanque Verde falls, spending the afternoon at Agua Caliente Park, horseback riding excursions, or the easy access up to Mount Lemmon. And that's just naming a few.

Pro #2: Less Condensed Living

A huge plus of living on the east side of Tucson is that there is less density within the area. Back in the mid 2000s, the master plan for the east side and Northeast side of Tucson was changed so that the zoning is not able to change. Which means builders or home owners cannot make the areas more condensed, which leads to the areas to be less populated.

Pro #3: Family Friendly Activities

Some of the great places you'll love to visit on the east side include the Gaslight Theater, which is a musical melodrama theater that will have you singing along to every song. It's also attached to its iconic 50s diner Little Anthony's. Another great stop is Trail Dust Town, which is a historical wild west theme town that offers stunt shows, Ferris wheel rides, a miniature train ride, an old school carousel, and so much more. Make sure to stop at Pinnacle Peak for a fun steakhouse dinner.

Con #1: Commute to the Freeway

Because Tucson only has one freeway, the commute can be a bit farther from the east side of town. Depending on where you are, it can take anywhere from 20 to 40 minutes to get to the freeway. The plus of living in a smaller town is that it might not be a deal breaker for some people. Considering we rarely have traffic jams. So the commute time stays relatively the same compared to bigger cities.

Con #2: Lack of Newer Construction Homes

The east side of Tucson is more developed and there aren't as many options for when it comes to new construction homes. That's not saying there aren't any, it's just harder to come by. The plus is many of the more established homes have bigger lots. So if new construction is what you're looking for, the east side might not be the best option for you.

Con #3: Hot Summer Heat

The greater Tucson area can get well into the 110s during the hottest summer months. Luckily that's only a month or so out of the year. The rest of the time, it's beautiful sunshine weather and nice and chilly winters. Those hot summer months can never outweigh the beautiful months we have throughout the rest of the year.
