Are you and your family looking to relocate to Tucson, AZ?

It’s always important when you are looking to relocate yourself to a new city or state to do extensive research. Sometimes that extensive research can get very overwhelming and discouraging. As a Tucson native I am so happy to be able to share with you Five reasons that might make it easier for you to decide if Tucson, Arizona is the place for you or you might decide after reading this blog it’s not the best fit for you or your family.

Affordability

When you’re looking for a new place to live, one of the main factors people look for is, how much will it cost to live there? What are the cost of groceries? Can I afford an 1800 sq/ft home or Will my budget be able to get me a 2500 sq/ft home.  Tucson, AZ is generally considered an affordable city compared to other major metropolitan areas in the United States. The cost of living in Tucson is lower than the national average, and housing prices are also relatively affordable compared to other cities. The current median home price as of March 2023 was $375,000.

The cost of living in Tucson is about 6% lower than the national average, with housing prices being 25% lower. This means that you can expect to pay less for things like groceries, transportation, and healthcare than you would in other cities. Of course, affordability can vary depending on individual circumstances and factors such as income, lifestyle, and neighborhood. However, overall, Tucson is considered to be a fairly affordable city to live in, particularly for those looking to purchase a home.

The Community and People

After living in Tucson, my entire life, and being fortunate enough to travel to different parts of the United States, one thing that really made me grateful for a living where I live is the people and community. Majority of the people that I tend to come across, are very friendly and proud of where they live. Now that doesn’t count for every single person but the vast majority I’ve come across appears that way!

Our community has a deep love and pride for our Wildcats! Being the hometown to the University of Arizona, when in doubt you can always bond with somebody and beardown! Our community is rich in culture and history and in addition to its arts and culture scene, Tucson is also known for its outdoor activities. The city is surrounded by several mountain ranges and national parks, offering opportunities for hiking, rock climbing, and other outdoor activities which tends to bring people and the many different communities together for group activities.

Weather

Tucson is located in the Sonoran Desert, which means it's pretty warm and sunny most of the year. With over 300 days of sunshine per year, it's an awesome spot for outdoor activities like hiking, biking, and golfing. And even though summers can be hot with temperatures over 105 degrees, the low humidity and afternoon thunderstorms make it pretty bearable.

In the winter, it's super mild, with temps in the 50s and 60s. So, it's the perfect place for snowbirds and retirees who want to escape the cold weather or if you just don’t like cold weather and are tired of plowing snow half of the year!

Another great plus is the warm and dry climate is also great for your health, especially if you have respiratory conditions like asthma. The dry desert air can be a lot easier to breathe than the humid air in other parts of the country. Plus, the warm weather encourages an active lifestyle, which is good for your overall health.

The Food Scene

One of the things that makes Tucson's food scene so special is the city's Southwestern and Mexican heritage. You can find some of the best Mexican food in the country here.

But Tucson's food scene isn't just limited to Mexican cuisine. Tucson has a diverse selection of options, including Thai, Vietnamese, Ethiopian, Italian, and so much more.

One trend that's been on the rise in Tucson's food scene is the farm-to-table movement. Many restaurants are sourcing their ingredients from nearby farms, ranches, and farmers markets to ensure that you're getting fresh and locally-sourced food. This has also led to a rise in vegetarian and vegan options, making Tucson a great destination for plant-based foodies.

Recently, The New York Times listed Tucson as one of the 52 Places to go in 2023 for food and we are recognized as a City of Gastronomy.
